Our Internet Service Provider (ISP) has been under a DDoS attack this morning multiple times. What this means is someone is flooding their service with so much traffic that it takes down anyone who is using their service.
According to our records, the effects have been that we had one outage around 2:00 AM PDT that lasted 10 minutes. Then, a second attack at 3:45 AM PDT that lasted just over 15 minutes.
We will continue to monitor the situation and give you updates. As it's not our service or any of our customers' websites that are under attack, this is completely in the hands of our ISP.
The common way a DDoS is handled is traffic is blocked in sections until eventually the attacker's location can be pinpointed and blocked permanently while allowing all other traffic to access service. More sophisticated attackers though will attack from several locations or will switch locations after they've been blocked. The result is the possibility of more than one attack.
