We have received notice that ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), who manages domain name registrations globally, is currently sending out domain verification emails to some users who registered their domains through us prior to January 1st, 2014. We wrote about this new verification process in a blog post last year. ICANN requires that up-to-date contact information is placed on file for all domain registrations.
If you have received one of these emails, please be advised that it is legitimate and you must click the verification link in order to prevent your domain from being suspended. Failure to do so within 15 days will result in your domain being temporarily suspended.
If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the email, here are some things to look for:
- The subject line of the email will read "IMMEDIATE VERIFICATION required for [yourdomain.com]"
- The email will have a return address of [email protected].
- The email will contain the same text in English, French, Italian, Portugese, Spanish, German and Polish.
- The link in the email will point to an raa.name-services.com domain.
If your domain name has already been suspended, you can reactivate it by updating the details on file and verifying your email address. Please contact our support team through your website with the your full updated details (name, address, city, state/province, zip/postal code, country, and email address) and we would be happy to help you through the reactivation process.
